With three world-class point breaks and a user-friendly beach break, Raglan is New Zealand’s premier surf town. The surf breaks cater to all ability levels ranging from first-timers to the world’s best.
Of course, there’s a lot more to Raglan than the waves. While surf lessons are always a highlight, there’s so much more to explore. From yoga to hiking and everything in between, this little coastal town has a lot to offer. We’re here to provide insider knowledge and help you make the most out of your stay in Raglan.
Bing Lyons
Bing has been exploring all corners of the world since 2003. To fund his adventures he’s been a bartender, first mate on ships, caddy for professional golfers and door-to-door salesman. After visiting over 80 countries in his extensive travels, he settled in Raglan and helped launch Green Wave.
In addition to teaching surf lessons, Bing runs the kitchen and extracurricular activities for Green Wave. He claims to have invented coconut rice.

Wes Rogers
Wes grew up surfing the notoriously fickle, sometimes firing New England coastline. He spent the better part of his youth in a 5mil wetsuit hunting cold water waves close to home. Since then, he’s dragged a board bag all over Central and South America, the Caribbean, Hawaii, Indonesia and Fiji. In 2014, he landed in Raglan and couldn’t get enough of the iconic left points and tight-knit community.
He loves going left, getting barreled and drinking coffee (in no particular order).

Zennor Wernham
Local surfing legend and coffee addict Zennor spent over 12 years as one of New Zealand’s top professional surfers. After years of competing, Zen naturally transitioned into his role as head surf coach and co-founder of Green Wave Raglan. Most days you’ll find him at Ngarunui Beach sharing his passion for the ocean with our surf students. Racking up nearly 20 years of coaching experience, his expertise and patience will take your surfing to the next level. He is our fearless team leader.
While Zennor is probably the most relaxed, chilled-out surfer in Raglan, he loves competition. Whether it’s a surf contest, ping-pong or his beloved backgammon, be prepared if he challenges you. He will probably win!
